I remember pulling up to the house where the ladies were getting ready and walking in to see Erin sitting around the giant dining table with all 11 of her girls going one by one to each of them and sharing why she was thankful for them individually. Later that afternoon, I head into the guys room to change my camera battery only to walk into the boys all laying hands on Ben to pray over him one at a time. After snagging a few photos, I head to ladies room to ask if Erin wanted a photo moment of her girls praying over her – only to walk in and find that they had already started. It wasn’t about the photo moment. In fact, I had no idea it was happening. I just so happen to walk into it. Erin and Ben are some of the most authentically intentional people l’ve ever met. Not just to their friends and family, and not only to each other, but to God. The way I saw love pour out of them onto others revealed their lives were simply an overflow of the love they received from God. They weren’t religious. They aren’t just Christians because they confined themselves to a set of beliefs. They’re Christian because they were so madly in love with God that it makes them committed to their people. The kind of people who care less about being right or wrong and cared more for the lives of those around them. Erin and Ben, it’s an honor to know and be known by you both, and it’s an even bigger honor to be in y’all’s corner cheering for your marriage. Continue to bring healing to those who’ve been hurt by religion. It sure as hell was healing for me to be near your presence.
